Army veteran and current Veteran's Specialist at Southern Union State Community College, Rosario Thomas, is Alabama's Veteran of the Year.
Rosario Thomas is Alabama's Veteran of the Year for 2025.
Thomas currently serves as the Veteran's Specialist at Southern Union State Community College. It's a role he found a passion for later in life, after retiring from the military.
Thomas enlisted in the Army straight out of high school, and didn't attend college until after he retired from active duty service. He says the advisors in the position he now holds are the reason he was able to make the best of his military benefits in college and what ultimately inspired him to take on this second career.
“For most veterans, all we need is somebody that listens to us,†said Thomas. “I give them an ear. I give them give little guidance to help them be more successful.â€
is open now through July 4 for national Veteran of the Year. The winner will be announced Sept. 11.
