A man was booked into the Madison County Jail early Wednesday morning after deputies say he sexually assaulted a child after entering their house under the guise of someone selling pest control services.聽聽
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded Tuesday to a residence in Hazel Green following a report of a sexual assault in progress involving a juvenile victim.
Deputies say the investigation revealed the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Randy Almanzar, requested to use the restroom after approaching the residence under the pretense of selling pest control services. Almanzar was then permitted entry into the home by the juvenile.
While inside, the sheriff's office says Almanzar sexually assaulted the victim before leaving the residence.
Deputies and detectives quickly located Almanzar, who was then taken into custody and interviewed.
Following the interview, Almanzar was arrested and charged with sexual abuse.
He was transported to the Madison County Jail without incident. Jail records show his bond was set at聽$14,500.
鈥淭his was a calculated and despicable act,鈥 said Sheriff Kevin Turner. 鈥淟et me be clear, anyone who preys on a child will be met with the full force of this Office. I鈥檓 proud of the swift work by our deputies and detectives, and I want the public to know: we will not hesitate, we will not slow down, and we will never tolerate this kind of evil in Madison County.鈥
Due to the nature of the offense and the age of the victim, no further details will be released at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
