Man accused of leading deputies on chase, tossing meth from vehicle in Jackson County

A man faces drug-related charges after allegedly leading deputies on a chase in Jackson County on Tuesday.

Deputies stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on County Road 287 in Stevenson. Deputies say after they made contact with the driver, he fled in the vehicle.聽

According to the sheriff's office, during the chase, the driver threw out a bag of illegal drugs that deputies were able to recover.聽

The chase ended a short time later and Larry Kirk, 63, of Bridgeport, was arrested. Deputies say they found another bag of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. A total of almost 230 grams of a meth/Fentanyl mixture was seized.聽

Larry Kirk is charged with drug trafficking, felony fleeing to elude, and tampering with physical evidence.

Kirk remains in jail on a $58,000 bond.
